check the tension of the transmission cable at the transmission- you'll see it connected on the front

What am i checking for?...should it be a bit looser?...cuz it shifts perfectly fine after i press the over ride button...it just doesnt let me press the button on the shifter without using the override button on the shift assembly...

I believe that he is referring to the brake button on the back of the pedal

The shifter interlock solenoid is powered by the brake light fuse via the brake light switch.

If the brake lights are working, I would check for power at the shifter interlock solenoid by the shifter.
