Australia 94 vienta camry headlight problems

hey just wondering if anyone has any idea as to what is wrong with my headlights. the flash works (pull the stick towards you). the parkers are fine. i have checked the relay and the fuses an i can get the to work by earthing the red and black wire on the high beam switcher. i dont know what to try next.

Sound like bad contacts in the head light switch.

Can you clarify something, what is not working on the car? High beam or low beam or both? No DRL, right?

If your setup is similar to the ones here, in low beam the signal to turn on the relay goes through the integration relay Via a red/yellow wire, and the bulbs ground directly. In high beam though, it powers the relay directly through the red/black wire, however, this time the bulbs grounds through the switch through yet another red/back wire.

neither the high or low beam work. except for the flash. the flash only started working after i found and fixed a burnt out wire in the plug to the dash wiring. this wire was black and white and from what i can see on the wiring diagram i have i is a earth wire. also when i earth the red and black wire the lights come on whether the switch is switched or not. no driving lights but parkers work fine

DRL, Daytime Running Lights, which was available in Canadian models.

When you ground the red/black wire, was it the high beam that comes on? Or all of them? Have you try grounding the red/yellow wire at the switch?

oohh yeah no DRL. when i earth the red and black the lights work as they should. can be put into high beam or just low beam and the flash works. have tried earthing all contacts. so the switch to actually turn the headlights on (off, parkers, headlights) runs through the integration relay?? also recently the rotor button broke which sent high voltages to places where they shouldnt have gone this possibly could have effected something i guess but the two incidence are a couple of weeks apart

Electrical circuits are hard to follow sometimes; in some cases, it will fail right away, but in others it might take a little time, depending on the circuits.

There are two paths for the switch to power the relay for the head lights; one from the red/yellow wire through the integration relay, the other through the red/black wire bypassing the integration relay. Check for a ground at the head light relay; at the two smaller terminals, one should have power all the time, and the other is the ground from the switch when it is turned on.

Did you measure or test for power and ground by connecting across the two smaller terminals?
