Engine Swap 92 4cyl into 93 6cyl car

Has anyone ever swapped a 4 cyl into a 6 cyl car?

I can buy a nice 1993 6cyl car (bad engine) for cheap and I already have a complete 92 4cyl car that runs great but has front and rear body damage.
Anybody ever done this swap? If so, was it worth it or more trouble than it was worth.
Thanks,
Adrian

3rd Generation

If you already have the car(s) to swap everything in and to, I would say go for it. But generally you'll be pretty disappointed with overall performance. The v6's are just as reliable, with slightly less gas mileage and more city driving power.

Look it up in the search section, you MIGHT find something

well this is a first..

Not sure but I assuming you will think the i4/ v6 transmission ratio will make it sense like extrememly under power.(slower) than a i4/ i4 transmission combo

Anybody know anything this about?

Thanks, will hit the search section.

I was just looking to make use of the engine/trans out of the crashed 4cyl car. The only decent body I have found is a 6cyl car. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with techincal problems with this kind of swap, ie; wiring harness, computer, etc.
Thanks again

Drop both subframes with EVERYTHING attached, and swap them along with the I4 ECU.

That is a great idea. Any idea about how big a job it would be to change the wiring harness out?
Thanks,

^ Well, I'm not 100% sure if you need to swap the wiring harness. The V6 has hydrolic fans, and the I4 is electric. I know when 2WickedToyz here on the foum did the EXACT opposide of you, he HAD to swap the dash harness. The issue was is the hydrolic fan's had an extra relay in the dash, that had 1 extra 2 wire connector under the dash that connected to the engine harness. Your doing the opposite, so I am not sure if you'd have an issue using the same harness that is currently in it.

As for the engine wire harness, leave it all attached to the engine. Just unplug it at the ECU, putt it though the wire harness, and unhook it all from the engine bay.
