Australia How do you pull apart a 5sfe distributor

Hurro!

I got a 5sfe distributor... I need to pull the guts out and magically adapt it to a 3sge distributor housing... (i'm a celica boy rading the camry forum cause of you guys sharing the 5sfe engine. I thought i would broaden my search.

I got the Cam drive off the end by pressing the pin out on a vice... but how do i get the cogs off the shaft to take the G1, G and Ne and rada rada sensors out?

I tried a few methods but was not game enough to go further incase i busted it. Any help appreciated!

Thanks

are you trying to make a "5sge"? by using a std. 5s wire harness and just adapting the 5s guts to a 3s dizzy to because the 5s dizzy will not fit in a 3s head? (I’ve tried this before) the gears on the shaft press off if memory serves also mark the location of the gear to everything ells. when i tried to do what i think you trying to do i used a 93 camry 5s dizzy and a 89 3s dizzy and tried to graphed the 5s into the 3s dizzy, the wall I hit was there wasn’t enough space for the 5s guts to fit in a 3s dizzy and have the cap still fit on the top. if i were going to try to build a 5sge again i would just get off some $ and build a adaptor for the 3sge head that will allow a stock 5s dizzy to bolt to it. hope this helps

Thanks heaps for the reply.

Yea i just got it apart this arvo to pull it apart. And noticed the observations you stated.

The 5sfe guts don't fit unfortunately and neither does the 5sfe shaft (not deep enough taking into account the guts can't go in all the way). Also the hold down bolt positions are different.]

I think your idea is the best so far. i can't think of any other way. I need to work out a way to adapt the 5sfe. I'm handy with a grinder and welder if need be lol. but we will see. will have ot be creative. Cause even the bolts to hold the guts in place in the original housing are in a particular position that needs to be near exact to have the precise for the clearances with the shaft and gears on the shaft... and i don't trust my own hand and eyes to mimic that exact precision.
GAH!

I'm gonna have to bite my lip and start jotting ideas.

This is the final stage of my build. I have been keepin a detailed diary including the customising of my throttle body, water outlet and rada rada. Would you guys be interested if i posted a 'how to' thread for those who are keen but never done a tight budget 5sge [While maintaining original loom and ecu]? (once i solve all the mysteries and get some solutions)
