Limp mode?

So today I was driving(my 94 XLE V6) on some back roads in Tennessee on my way back to Atlanta and I had the trans power/econ button in the power mode. I was at a stop light and turned right and go on it to pass a car, when around 4500 rpms, the car stuttered and I got a CEL. When I would press the gas, the rpms would rise then fall right away, I couldnt get any power. I coasted off to the side of the road and looked under the hood and everything was fine. I went to start the car again and the car sounded and felt like it wasnt running on all cylinders. I disconnected the battery and waited for about 2 or 3 minutes and hooked it back up and the car started and ran just fine.

Was this an example of the car going into limp mode? I remember reading about the 94's having a super sensitive knock sensors and I am wanting to know if this is what my problem was.

Other than that, my car ran like a champ on my round trip up to Chicago from Atlanta. Its 735 miles one way, so alomost 1500 miles later, everything is good to go! Buying this Camry was probably the best 3,000 I ever spent!

Thanks for your help!

I have a 94 camry v6 1mzfe engine. The problem I got is exactly the same as your. The Check Engine Light is on all the time when the car is in the limp mode. I try to pull the code but can not get the code from regular obd1&2 reader. It seem like I have to bring it to dealer to get the code read. I will try to buy a new knock sensor and put it in new place and wire it direct to ecu to see if the knock sensor is bad, because I really don't want to take the valve cover off for the knock sensor.
If you get any update on the solution, please post. I will do the same. Btw, I changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, vsv valves ( all 3), ECT sensor, clean the EGR valve and check it not stuck, clean the IAC, check the MAP sensor within spec. Everythings seem good except the knock sensor and camshaft sensor, ECU.
Did your car start for the first time and die ? my does, I have to keep on the gas until i warm up and idle fine but can not rev past 2000. If I press on the gas to much it sputter and stall while in park. It been a month I try to fix this problem, hope someone here have any other idea or past experience with this car please HELPPPPPPPPPPPPP !!!
