Black fuse in the fuse compartment blown ??

Hi all,

My tail lamp and instrument panel dead and I found the black fuse ( below the 7.5 A fuse )located in the fuse box in the driver side blown.

I found this number on the body of the fuse 90980-04066. Anybody know how many amps is this fuse rating ? what cause it to blown ?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Would help to know what year and body style your car is, and which fuse block are you referring to. The Amperage of the fuses should be in the owner's manual too.

From your description, you are not looking at a fuse, but maybe a diode, since regular fuses don't have part numbers on them.

Thank you for all responds,

It's a 98 toyota camry and the black fuse is located in the fuse box below the steering column.

I had a pic but I can't attach. When I click on the "insert image" icon, it ask for the URL so I don't know what to do with it.

The part # you had was for a diode or condenser, not a fuse.

Look for the sticky on top of the forum page for instruction to post pictures.

A dealer or a wrecking yard would be the best bet, doubt very much it is something you can get from a parts store. It is more of a noise filter, you can probably put a 15A fuse in place temporarily until you can get a new one, probably need a fuse holder for that. As far as why it went bad, there maybe a short and if you put a higher Amp fuse in place of the correct rated one, it will take out the next weaker link. If the 15A fuse blows, I would check the wiring harness by the left trunk hinge, which is very common for broken wires that may short togther.
