Groaning/roaring noise when braking
My '99 Camry produces a groaning/roaring noise when braking from higher speeds (40 mph or above?) or braking hard. The noise is very loud in the cabin. Otherwise, the car handles good, it's quiet, and when it was aligned, the shop did not point out any problems. I bought the car from the original owner when it had about 180K miles on it. Now it has nearly 184K miles. It's made this noise the whole time that I've had it. Is it a brake problem or a wheel bearing, since it only makes the noise when the front end is under a braking load? Is it something else? I've done a search and found that someone had a similar problem, but there was no followup on what the problem was. Thanks.
