master switch lock does not work

Hi,

Operation:
Every time I pushed the lock button down on my driver Master Switch, all four doors lock.

Problem:

I need help!!.... I have troubled ONLY on my driver side (master switch) does not LOCK the four doors when I pushed the lock button down. My passenger Power Window Switch works fine (all 4 doors lock and unlock when per button pushed down). The driver side (Master Switch) unlock works fine (when pushed unlock button down), but NOT the lock position.

The items that I have tested and known to be working fine

The Master Switch is GOOD (TEST WITH A KNOWN GOOD MASTER SWITCH, THE PROBLEM IS STILL NOT SOLVED)

THE PASSENGER SIDE LOCK and Unlock to be working FINE.

Any suggestions/or other possibilities

I don't know if the MASTER SWITCH has A RELAY that control THE LOCK position on the driver side. I look at the fuse box under the car's hood ,but nothing mention anything relate to MASTER SWITCH.

Also, my friend told me there are RELAY under the driver side that control the MASTER SWITCH...I AM NOT SURE IF HE IS RIGHT on that...

If someone has a similar problem, please share what you did to fix the problem. Can someone comments on this and share your expertise and suggestion how to troubleshoot to fix this problem?

My driver side unlock button stopped working but the lock button still worked. Turned out that the cable in the door got cut.

Your gonna need to remove the door trim and the cover right next to the foor rest.

Inside the door just push the rubber protective thing into the door.

Inside the car, disconnect the harness for the wires that come from the door. Then push those wires into door as well.

Then its just a matter of removing the protective rubber thing, so you can inspect the wires.

also if your planning on installing after market speakers, right now is a good time

Albuynp Ryeno,

So you say I have to remove the cover window driver side to see inside the window harness wires for any broken wires. Is that right?

door trim? the door trim is on the edge floor on the drive side door?

Its most likely your wiring harness, a common problem for the 3rd gen camry. I suggest you search this forum for this issue, as it is a common problem. You should find a slew of answers.

I found the problem...

One of the hardness wire is broken...I use external wire to bypass the suspect hardness wire...then the LOCK works fine...

NOW, I have a question... since I broke a small amount of conductor (suspect hardness wire) on the edge where the male and female connector clip on the Master Switch...

I am thinking not to bother open the door and trace where the wire is OPEN... please share what you guys have fix or best way to tack this problem...

I am thinking to get a new hardness wire and if I can remove old clip from the Master Switch and reuse both ends of hardness wires.. then I run thru. the hold door and put inside the female and male connectors...

my question... Is this the best way to SAVE TIME And good way to tack the problem? OR can you get the hardness itself from Toyota dealer or junkyard? What is the best way you guys prefer? Has anyone has this problem and share what you guy go by fix the problem?

the wire that is suspect is almost broke....i want to replace a new one...what you guys think best way to tack this? or can I buy the clip that go inside the connector and try to make my own wire...What you guys think best way ?

if I get the wire fix, then the lock get back to normal.... right now, I am not sure where the wire broke (OPEN)... don't want to tear the hardness inside the door because those got well protected.... Or what you guy think where the hardness can be broken... can the wires broke at the door (inside the rubber)?

I need suggestion.....how to fix this...
