4th Generation 97 V6 clutch replacement question:

I am taking my car in next week for a (badly needed) new clutch. I guess 125,000 miles is pretty good.

Anyway, one reason I am taking it in is because I don't have the tools or time to do it myself, but that is another discussion (n00b!).

While they have the car shredded to replace the clutch, is there anything else that should be done? If they have all that stuff disassembled, anything else in the area that should be done?

Also, in addition to replacing the clutch itself, is there anything else that needs to be replaced (bearings, other parts in the vicinity, etc.)?

Thanks!

I just want to make sure this is done right.

May also consider the rear main seal, it is right there if the flywheel is going to be machined, just minimal labor and part. With the clutch disc, the throw-out bearing and pressure plate should be replaced. Both axle seals in the transmission may also be something to think about.

97' don't have much problem with axle boots, but that is something you should ask them to check out during the repair and report their condition.

change the passenger-side seal

quite often, it can get damaged while pulling the transmission in and out. it's not worth the work to remove the half-shaft again
