Question 93 Camry V6 Transaxle

Background information: Doing a motor and trans swap. 3vz-fe and A540, both imported from Japan. After much trial, error and transaxle compatibility issues, we finally have it all together, my buddy and I. Just finished connecting the trans to the motor last night after some trouble getting it to align correctly.

Anyway, my question is: I spun the drive shaft a bit after connecting the motor and trans; it went smoothly for a few spins but after hearing a click, it locked in place. This might sound like a dumb question, but i'm asking because the shafts used to be able to spin freely (both left and right) in opposite directions and now it's just locked up (won't spin in any direction). Is this the parking mechanism? I'm apprehensive because we're about to put the motor and tranny back into the engine bay. Appreciate any information.

The shafts should spin freely unless the trans is in Park. Put the trans in Neutral, the axles should freely.

Thanks for the help, I notice a sound like a spring loaded latch? Any idea what that could be?
