3rd Generation Ghetto-est camry ever?

So I've finally decided to take pictures of what I call the ghetto-est camry ever. I really doubt some1 out there can beat me. I guess I'll list the problems as I go through with the pictures.
Just looking at it from afar, you can just tell. The clear coat is starting to shed, as well as a build up of surface rust is starting to show on my hood.

Theres a bit of damage still left from when my car got hit in a parking lot. Sucks that it was a hit and run. You can still see some of the other cars paint, I was too lazy to put compound on it. I figured why bother.

There's the rim that I messed up after I hit black ice and slid into a curb, I can elaborate on that if you want.

Then there is my back tire that has uneven treadwear compared to my other tires. This tire likes to slide out and lead me to oversteer in rainy conditions.

My cracked passenger side door handle.

My cracked back tail light center piece covered with electrical tape.

Here is where it leaks at in the rain. I'm also confused about how i've seen it snow in my car.

Let's take a look at the inside now, here is my speaker cover on the drivers side that has to be held by screws because the plastic parts broke on it.

Here is the driver's seat..

This is the back seat belt jungle.

The front knob on my air conditioning/heater broke so I have to use pliers to turn it. Also to mention all of my vents are blocked/dont work except for the passengers side.

I rarely ever vaccum my car out so I have quite a collection of japanese beetles in the back of my car.

Now lets take a look under the hood. This is the engine bay AFTER it was cleaned up. It used to be really black and filthy. I think I might be losing coolant somewhere, my coolant overflow tank was full just two weeks ago.

Here is my battery after sucessfully getting the right kind, before the terminals were swapped so my dad just built a bridge of metal to get to connect to the terminals, it died, so I just invested in the right battery.

There are a few things I've done to it though, it's got Hid's, a clear light for the dome, I've repainted the grille from its original gunmetal type color to black, I've debadged repainted and rebadged my car. I rushed some of the pieces and it didnt come out too well.

I like the addition of the shopping cart handle spoiler on the back. You can use that to ergonomically push the car which inevitably you will have to in the future.

I see that kind of thing on the road and it makes me die a little inside. Was the car's paint in that condition when you bought it? How much of the abuse pre-existed?

Lets see well the story is I got this car for free from my uncle. He used it to commute over 100 miles a day and this was his beater. He ran it pretty hard, and the back tires are from when he had it. I forgot to take pics of the Odometer but it is at 355,000. The clear coat had only started to come off at one corner of the lid, me at age 15, not knowing what to do did nothing. When I first got it, it ran but with a blown headgasket. It also really needed a change of brake pads. All of the rust that is there now, was there when I got it. Really this was a project car. It also used to burn oil alot, but I forget how we fixed it. This isn't a joke sadly, and I'm hoping I can get enough money between this month and next month to invest in a MR2. The car has been running great, you can't underestimate this car. The only times it has ever stopped running was when my battery was improperly connected. The seats were already ripped, the bugs were there but more, I did vaccum it once, and it was pretty bad. I found an open slim jim in there once too. I'm usually the only one that drives this car, and only when I'm alone. We have other cars but I still prefer to drive the Camry. My other uncle broke my vents somehow, my dad broke the AC knob, the center piece in the back was already cracked, there were still leaves and debris in my air filter box till I cleaned it out 6 months ago. My dad told me he got my windshield repaired but I found gum up where the hole was and I just laughed to myself. My dad discourages spending any money on it, and since I'm a broke college student I dont have any money to get it fixed. The hole in the back was also already there when I got it, but someone hit it and made it bigger, how convenient. None of the speakers worked at first either. The windshield washer tank used to have a hole in it, but I bought new one's off of ebay. That spoiler was just a joke, it actually fits on a Acura 2.2 Cl which was my brothers old car. I was hoping to paint it but I think I've given up on the car.

I will pity the MR2 you buy. I hope you do not follow in your father's and uncle's footsteps and abuse it.

I'm not saying that so much as you should care what others think either, however, it comes from a pride in knowing that all things that you touch will be taken care of. I don't blame you either as economically, you are in a tough spot. It's just sad to see anyone that was of any economic means before you to let things go.

Many a time friends have let me borrow things from them and they end up getting it back in better shape than they lent it to me. It's that insane sense of pride I have. That includes cars.

Good luck in the future.

The trash in yours isn't nearly as bad as mine was. There were random chips on the floor, an open snickers bar, misc wal-mart receipts, soda bottles, etc. Thankfully I have that all cleaned up now. I can't stand people that eat in their cars. I find that really disgusting. I think its because I grew up using dealer owned cars because my dad always drove them from his used car dealer. Then if I left something in a car and it got sold, I would never see it again, and if i got a car dirty, I got in a lot of trouble, so a ground-rule was no eating in the cars. D:

Ah, you won't have to be worried about me abusing the MR2, I treat the camry like my baby, the only thing wrong I did to it was when I had gotten into the accident and messed up the rims. Neither my dad or my uncled intended on breaking my car, they just sadly happened to do so. I usually baby this cars engine, not going above 2.5k and never braking really hard. It's also my car that I have to commute with so it still see's 100 miles a day.

and Thanks

Haha, there was some random trash in my car as well. The car in the backseat belonged to my uncles two little girls who did leave trash all over the place (gum wrappers and such) I try to keep my car clean on the inside, however right now the back seat is occupied by Friday's newspaper. I constantly eat in my car, however I try to be clean about it, the only thing that has ever spilled was a bag of specially coated chicken fingers that leaked all over the passenger seat, I cleaned it up ASAP though so no harm was done.

This is when I first installed the new headset.

Just stupid little things... Mostly caused by stupid carelessness and just simply neglecting it in a stupid way. You know, things like ripped seats, broken climate control knobs, screwed in speaker cover? I've had cars in my family way longer than that and wear and tear is inevitable..., but your car was simply abused...

But economically, trust me, I don't think you are ready for an MR2 at all.. If you need to give up on fixing up the Camry, you are no where in good shape to buy, drive, and maintain an MR2. . My guess would be around $1500 to fix your Camry into good shape and something decent to drive. Imagine an MR2, you will be getting muffler tips and HID's with a blown turbo and dying motor.

Ripped seats and broken door handles are about the only wear n tears that acceptible.

No way under normal use can either the heater control nobs or the speaker grill fall off.

I've nevver ripped a seat, and neither of my family members or relatives with cars over 20 years old...LOL It takes abuse to rip a seat like that, or from another standpoint, having metal objects, tools, etc.. while you sit on the seat. That's again, abuse in my book. How can you break door handles? I live in Canada and had doors frozen shut by freezing rain. There is a point when you don't pull with all your superhero strength on a frozen door handle. Just like some people are smart and don't slam the trunk (for example) with superhero strength, thus breaking latches, bulbs, wiring, etc... Wear and tear versus abuse are totally different things

I guess i am just a real man, I've broken 2 exterior door handles and 1 interior door handle. Thats what happens when toyota door handles out of plastic and not metal.
