engine locked by anti-theft ?

My camry97's engine cannot be started. The things happened are as follows.

The car's battery was found dead 2 days ago after I stopped using it for about one week. The wireless remote key pedal can not unlock the door either, but the key pedal has battery power as it is flashing when I press buttons. So I use the real key to unlock the door and tried to start it up using jumping cable, the engine cannot be started, but cranks. I found the flashing light of the anti-theft system in the car is even not flashing any more (it flashes normally). So I guess the engine might be locked by the anti-theft system, which seems already dead now.

So my question are:

1. is this problem of engine not starting caused by the anti-theft locking of the engine
2. if yes, can I unlock it by myself
3. if I have to go a shop or dealer, how much would it cost

Thanks a lot !

It depends if the car has the immobilizer the prevents the engine from starting if the battery is disconnected.

Go to the link below and read up on this system and how to disarm it.

Typically it involves something like using the key to open the door and starting the engine within 15 seconds or turning the ign key to ON then ACC then ON.

Hi, thanks so much. I tried switching from on to acc back and forth several times and started the engine within 15 seconds since opening the door, the car was jumped back, now it's running, but the anti-theft system is still not working. Is there an easy way to reactivate the anti system back to work ? Thank you a lot !!!
