3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I am looking for a new set of front rotors and pads and some rear drum and shoes.
I recently changed the front rotors with some cheap ones from autozone and they squeak from the brake dust (pads were bought by my mechanic from advance auto) He did warn me that the rotors will produce a lot of brake dust. This spring I would like to redo the setup. My questions is what options do I have for (Brands) of rotors and pads. (1997 camry 4cyl)
Also at the same time I am thinking about changing my rear drums and shoes. The current drums are rusted and the shoes are worn. What brands do you recommend for drums and shoes.
I have looked into some Advance Auto Raybestos front rotors and rear drums online.
Would really appreciate your input Toyota Nation Members. I would like to eliminate the squeaking and brake dust in the front.
Some brands: Raybestos, Brembro, Bendix, Wearever, Beck Arnley, Valucraft, what are my best option for rotors.
1.
2.
3.
Well, you don't want Wearever because it is cheap. Based on the brands you have listed I would put Brembo rotors on my camry.Raybestos are good but also cheap.I have been to advance before for rotors on my Pontiac and they were only $22 a piece.I would choose and I think everyone would agree on Brembo.

Get Hawk pads. I had the HPS or whatever the non-ceramic and non-racing line is called. Nice pads but they did make a bit of noise until they got warm, so maybe the first 2 or 3 stops it would make a bit of noise and then none afterwards.
