Japan distributor problem

I just got a new distributor because of a code 12 but now it will not go all of the way in.I have it in right, I have put them in before. The end of the shaft is in the camshaft all of the way but its like its to big around or something.I can turn the distributor and push in at the same time but there is still almost 1/4 in gap between the back part of the housing and the motor. Its not hitting anything that I can see but it just will not seat flush with the block. What could be the problem, it is remanufactured and is the right distributor for my car but it just wont go all of the way in?

On the eighth page of your other thread when you were trying to find out why Ne and/or G had no signal, and after you had changed out the distributor you posted this:

Quote:
paperclips were shoved in the connector, and the little plastic retainer that is shown in the manual you sent me is loose on my distributor connector. It just falls out.I cannot afford a whole wiring harness
So I can't understand now why you are again putting in a new distributor?

Hey man I'm trying.I already paid for a new distributor and the one that they gave me the black plastic clip was broken and it did not seat properly on the engine.I had to exchange it and now the one I have will not go all of the way in.Also I noticed that on the other ones that they gave me it had 2 pickup coils, this one has 3.Could it have been for a celica or something? It looks like it is the exact same thing but will not go all of the way in.

What happened was when I first found out about dtc12 I went ahead and got another distributor. I sent my old one back for the core. The first one that I got went in all of the way but the clip was broken so I exchanged it for another one. That clip was broken too so I asked for my money back and got one from Advanced and it wouldnt go all the way in so I exchanged it for another one.Now this one wont go in all the way I cant figure out why.
