3rd Generation Another Toyota in the family!

Well it started the other day... My sister had just moved back home to Myrtle Beach and was on her way to work when a dumb ass truck wasnt payin attention at a light and slammed into her at about 20 mph. Shes ok but her car was considered totaled out because the frame was extremely messed up.. heres the pic after we got the car home.

Well after searching around she was stuck between a few cars: 2004 honda accord ex, 2006 cobalt lt, AND! a 2004 CAMRY LE! so after talking to her for a little bit and after she test drove it.......

She came home with the Camry!!!

She loves it! and im jelious of her but proud!!! I love her car!

and we also have 3 toyotas in the family now!

sisters 2004 camry le, moms 07 prius, and my 95 camry LE

We just gotta talk my dad into trading his new ford escape for a toyota rav 4. lol the escape is funny. its a weeaaaakkk 4 cyl with a 4x4 when it wants to be. Not to mention its pretty cheap looking IMO so my sister and i are talkin him into getting a rav 4 atleast to complete our toyota family

Well just thought i would share with you guys!!

You didnt mention the price.

I honestly cant say i approve of this purchase. If i was a girl, i would have gotten something sportier then a family saden. If i was a dad, I would have gotten an SUV, so when my girl crashes it, she's still okay.

But with that all aside if i was going to buy another camry i would not buy a 4 banger. My 5s-fe camry was sooo bad. Like its scary knowing i even drove that thing. Their was just no power. Merging on the freeway wasn't the greatest experince. Driving the 1mz compared to the 5s-fe is like night n day. Now i know that camry has the 2az, but still its not that great of an improvement from the 5s. I would have personally gotten the v6 version.

Also why does that accord say toyota on it

we dont know why it says toyota, She got a junk yard deal on it and aparently it came from a toyota dealer somewhere in the area, im not sure.

On to the camry tho. compared to the accord its much much better. she paid 10k for it in all. It has 45k miles on it and its in perfect condition so im not complaining. All of what u said is in ur opinion im not being a dick but im just saying. So you can say what ever you want about if my sister made a good choice or not, but at the end of the day our entire family is happy with it and thats all that matters

/end

1st part, wtf?

2nd part....um, the 2AZ camry is a LOT faster then the 5SFE. The 2AZ compared to 5SFE is light night and day. So I don;t at all understand how it's not much of an improvement.

Girls suck at driving. IDK WHY they just do. Actually it might have something to do with being indecisive but thats really a discussion for psychology.

Plus SUVs are safer then sadens.

put 2 and 2 together.

Spitfire, add a spoiler to her Camry!

That is one of the most IGNORANT statements ever. So you'd rather have her kill someone else, good idea! SUV's are a LOT more likely to flip over, and are worse at braking. So year, it;s a lot safe for everyone else on the road.

I'm surprised your care more about a random stranger then a family member.
wow i agree with Adam, you are saying some ignorant things. She has more of a chance of her flipping the SUV and dying than someone else with an SUV killing her, ESPECIALLY if you feel "ALL girls suck at driving".

As for the V6 vs. I4 issue. The 2AZ has a lot of power. More than enough for any action. There really is no reason to get the V6, especially if there is city driving involved.

Wow for someone on a car enthusiast forum. you should be able to appricate the extra power of a v6. Besides merging in an out of traffic. Accidents can happen at any time. More power means you can press the pedel n get out of a bad situation if need be. Also I am not sure how the gen 5 camry is, but if its anything like the gen3/4, then the v6 model gets better braking as well.

Last time I checked, i didnt see sedans getting totaled around every corner.

I never said the extra power of a V6 was not appreciated. I said that it is not necessary. If you drive in a safe manner, you will not need to be merging in and out of traffic. If you are in a bad situation and you need to get out of the way, your reaction time is what counts, not acceleration.

I never said that either. My point was I have never seen an SUV flipped over. (now i know it happens) but compare how many car crashs their are to the number of SUVs flipping over and it wont even be close.

My point is I rather buy a car thats if she does crash she has a better chance of living in.

WHAT? WHAT? First thing in the real world you can drive safe all you want but you cant make someone else safe.

Second reaction time doesnt matter if you have no power.

ex and this did happen to me. I driving on a 2 lane road at 3 am. Its just me on the road then a car comes up. Hes driving fast and is swerving between lanes. Now my options are either wait till he catchs up and hope he doesnt hit me. slam the brakes and allow him to pass me, which also might result in me getting hit. Or press the gas pedel, get far away and turn into a side street. Now obviously going forword away from him is the safest option.

Like i said reaction time doesnt matter if you dont have power.

I fail to comprehend your message.

If my brother messes up the camry its no biggie and i got a badass sc300 that i can play around with.

my point was to show you that not all enthusiast are the same, some don't want to pay extra money for the added power, just like why you have an v6 sc300 and not the v8 sc400...

i prefer not to voice my opinions on your cars because everyone has their personal preference and different budget

but we would all be safer if we drove a cayanne turbo since its an suv and fast right?

but you agree to my other points you didn't include in your quote right?

SUVs rollover much more than cars. Occupants of suvs are more likely to be killed in a rollover due to roof crush.

Lots of info VERY long read, Very detailed. Those who don't like to read much beware...

yeah imma help her out a little bit and get her car lookin even better. gonna look for a stock spoiler for her and some stock rims

To everyone else: My sister is a great driver. She got hit buy a jackass in an suv.

What especially gets me a lil angry is the fact that u would rather kill someone first before your self. Honestly thats an extremely selfish opinion. I would much rather kill myself before someone else IMO.

For the rest of this thread! IM showing my sisters new camry not comparing crash ratings! so stop the thread jacking geez! lol

Wasnt expecting this crap.

^ And in the end, all the idiots and bad drivers will have an SUV, so everyone STILL gets killed and moreso the innocent, and then we have no petroleum left as well. That, and you know you have to live with the fact your crappy ass driving killed someone. So I;d say you have no heart. Good thinking!

Spitfire, I got an aftermarket painted spoiler off ebay for like $150 2 years ago for my mom's car, and it was a dead on perfect color match, and good quality. Also come with all mounting hardware and a template. Thats your best bet.
