4th Generation gen 4 intake question 4 cyl.

I have had a short ram intake on my camry for some time now, and ever since day one my intake makes this loud sucking noise, especially when I first start it up. I'm assuming the noise is louder when I start it up because it is cold and is idling faster.

I didn't hear this with the stock intake. I have also checked to make sure that there is nothing in the intake making this noise, and there doesn't appear to be any thing. It also makes this noise even if I take off the intake and let it idle straight from the intake manifold.

-Does anyone else have this problem?
-Any solutions?

4th Generation

I have an Injen intake on my 97 camry I notice the same problem when I first installed it I thought something was also wrong but thats just how the aftermarket intake work. The cone filter is making s suction noise this happens because the intake is sucking in the air but after a few minutes and the engine warms up it goes away. What brand are you running..

The stock intake has the ducting and the resonator to quiet down the air flow noise. With CAI, there isn't much you can do, you are very close to running the engine without anything attached, you will hear every little sound that it makes. You can try a longer intake duct to move the filter further out.

Yep, that's kinda why people put pod filter on; for the induction noise Nothing wrong with your car. Take your car up to +4k rpm and listen to it then! Yea!

actually the constant suking noise at idle is the crankshaft vacuum coming out the valve cover.

When I put the ram in the tercel, you could hear it well, but after a summer of driving it WOT and killing the engine's compression, you almost wouldn't hear it.

So 97camryle, just kill your piston rings...should take care of the problem
