gas in exhaust

My son has a 96 camry 4 cylinder. I just put a timing belt on it. It now has gas coming out of exhaust. A good bit. I turned off the engine don't want a fire. Any suggestions?

If the engine was running OK before the timing belt change, recheck cam and crank pulley orientation to make sure it is correct.

If the engine has remote crank or camshaft pickup sensor for the ign make sure they were not disturbed.

Also make sure you are actually getting spark on all 4 plugs. Did u remove the plugs for the T-belt change? Are codes being thrown?
