The flex pipe on my 5SFE seperated so I finally got around to getting a replacement front exhaust pipe. I need to remove the front exhaust pipe, I'm hoping its just remove the old pipe directly, and just bolting on the new one. I hope this is the case, but is there anything else I need to remove to be able to remove the front exhaust pipe?
Thanks in Advance.

One issue may be the front pipe includes the CAT. Auto stores or muffler shops should have just the flex section. Cut out the old pipe and weld in another. There may be types that clamp on with muffler clamps..
I'm not replacing just the flex pipe, I'm replacing the whole portion. I already got a new front exhaust pipe. The portion of the pipe from the end of the exhaust manifold to the CAT. I figured I replace the whole thing, to ensure a good repair. I have the front exhaust pipe, but before I go at it I was just wondering if I had to remove anything else before I am able to remove the front exhaust pipe. Thanks.

I finally got around to doing the front exhaust pipe.
ghettosled, same.
I have the orignal exhaust. Everything was rusted on & stripped. To get the front exhaust pipe off, i ended up have to take off everything, from the front exhaust pipe back to the muffler. All to get the hack saw and hammer away at the nuts & bolts. Finally seperated it. The heat shields were stripped on too. They were even more of a pain in the ass to get off than the front exhaust pipe. After breaking them apart, I had to get the whole exhaust system back on the car. Tomorrow I have to pick up new nuts and bolts and get the pipe bolted in. Real Pain. I checked the rest of the piping, all seems to be good. Just surface rust for the most part. The pipe joints are all rusted together, but I figure if another problem comes about, I'll replace everything. The CAT is pretty rusty but, the muffler still looks good.
As long as I have time it will get done.

I've been searching the web for the flex section and found one place that offers the item
However, I am trying to find something more descriptive regarding if it is designed to clamp on the flex pipe. I already had one person over in the general section say that I would have to weld, but I am trying to avoid that due to cost of equipment and lack of experience.
Has anyone found a clamp on flex section? If not, I will probably go the same route as the_professional took and replace the entire section.
Only problem is one of the manifold's bolts to put on the front exhaust broke.
No biggie, atleast for the time being.
After all this time, i forgot how silent my camry is.
