Rotation/Balancing and Alignment

Hey everyone,

I had the car in the shop on Saturday and got the tires rotated and balanced but now the car pulls to the right. What could have caused this? The car was running fine before and the wear on the tires was even. The mechanic who did the work was also surprised to learn that the car is pulling to the right side and he also said that the alignment must not have been a problem since the tires he moved to the back were wearing evenly. My question.what the heck is wrong? I want to know before I put out $80 for alignment!

1998 Toyota Camry 184,xxx

Thanks

The front two tires are at 24 psi (Outside temps around 28F) and the rear two tires at 22.5 psi.....Now my question......should I put air to get the tires back to 32psi or are the tires registering this low because of the colder temps?

Tires will raise or drop pressure approximately 1 pound for every 10 degree change in temperature. I would definitely raise the pressure back to 32 PSI, when the tires are cold, and then take the car for a ride and see if that changes the pull. If not, I would next swap the 2 front tires with each other as a test. See if the car now straightens out or pulls to the left. If so, the tire now on the left side has what is known as a radial pull and needs to be replaced. This is a condition that should be covered under warranty if the tires are less than 3 years old.

Mike, thank you. I will indeed do that and report back with the results.
