3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Using a running 97 4 cyl to jumpstart another vehicle reversed polarity (stupid!) blew 100 amp fusible link & am2 fuse new am2 fus blows Y no starter action. How bad can it be
Do you feel lucky? If you do, then replace the 100A and whatever fuses that are needed, then find out which circuits are not working still. And pray that it is something that doesn't cost too much. There is always a chance that the fuses are all that you will need.
Yea you probably got lucky. Usually the car fairs pretty well after this. The fuses do their job and die with honor. You probably missed the fuse in the under the dash. The ignition fuse. Check every single one though with a test light just in case. The Cars ok you just missed that one fuse.

Will post results but a ground burning the am2 fuse means worse than changing fuses cuz that would just open a circuit . Then something would not work will be looking for those fool proof cables but have not seen them lately?
Looks like you only have the injectors and ignition coils, maybe the starter or ignition fuses in the AM2 fuse circuit to check. Unplug the injectors and ignition coils, and pull the starter and ignition fuses. And go from there.
I would suspect the injectors or the ignition coils, if not the components then the wiring.
N.E.O.

So I checked the AM2 fuse . One side was hot 12 v & the other side showed no ground now? nothing else done . So i put a new 30 amp In & tried on postion - still OK. Then tried a start
Volila ( french for Eurreka) & it started! Now only radio not working probably a fuse on its feed.
I did this once jumping a Cadillac, because the battery was opposite on that car as well. My car was running and the cables were connected for about 30 seconds before the 4 awg jumper cables, which are huge because they were for jumping construction equipment, started to smoke. Unhooked it, switched them around and tried again. My car was fine, no fuse blown or anything. I am amazed to this day, although perhaps the upgraded electrical system (big 3) allowed the car to handle the load. The Cadillac was no worse off, but it had to be towed anyway because the battery wasn't the problem. Don't remember what was.
Found a radio fuse built into the Bosch replacement radio 15 amp
Changed it & now everything works except I get a bad bulb light that appears to be unwarranted . Nothing to worry about there
