3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was wondering if anyone knew of the door sensor part number or something like that, I read the DIY and only one or two door sensors are bad so I figured I rather just buy the new ones.
Anyone have a part number or link to where I can buy one?
What door sensors? If that means the door courtesy switch, I have one for sale right now.

I mean the switch under that rubber cover, to turn the light on when the door is opened, it has a bolt and a white thing to push in, if thats the same thing you're talking about, do you have a link to you for sale ad, or you know how much and such. Pictures?
All 4 of mine are going out...it's probably just cold weather, but I depend on them to balance out my forgetfulness. Twice now I've left my lights on because I'm used to the door switch sending the signal to shut them off, but it hasn't been working as well lately.
Did the DIY not work for you? I haven't really looked at it in depth yet. Good to know they are relatively cheap, though

I cant see any of the pictures in the DIY in safari or firefox, so I cant really take that road. The two front ones work fine, the rear two are bad, one doesnt work at all, the other works sometimes.
I don't see the pics either, (using Nutscrape browser) but I can tell you how I fixed my 2 rear door switches, which never worked since I got the car 2 months ago.
1. Peel back the rubber cover, from the bottom IIRC, to expose the mounting screw. Pull it out as far as it will go, then remove the cover completely (hard to describe, but easy to see when it's out).
2. Hold the pin in and spray the hell out of it with radio contact cleaner, pushing the pin in and letting it snap back out out as you do so. Shoot enough in there to let it pour right through. The solvent evaporates quickly, but you can also hit it with the compressed air to be sure it's dry.
3. Clean the bolt/screw and the welded in nut threads (this is the ground for the switch, very important), but try not to remove the plating if it is still there. Lube the screw with spark plug dieelectirc grease, or vaseline, and re-install without the rubber cover. If it works, remove and re-install the cover, then put it back in hopefully for the last time. If still intermittent, you may need a new switch if repeating step 2 doesn't do it.

My sig has a link to my for sale ad. The picture below shows the "door switch" you need. I'm asking for $5 plus postage.
