Unhappy problems starting

this morning my brother had some problems starting my 1996 camry le 4 cylinder. tried it a few times and it never caught on. i went out there and turned the key and i felt like it was trying to start but it just wouldnt catch so i gave it some gas as the rpm was tryin to get up to idle-ing speed. and as i did that it finally started.

Anyone had this happen before? im just trying to be proactive about it early on so it doesnt grow out of hand and die on me out of the blue in the middle of no where.

it has an alarm system on it as well and lately the alarm will go off for a few seconds and then just stop, have no idea why, but this could be a factor?
just a drained battery perhaps?

i live in minnesota and ive had no problems starting it on colder days than today so its not the cold.

any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!

How long has it been since it had a basic tuneup?

hehe, what do you mean by tuneup?
i bought the car used with 98,600 miles in march (its currently at about 106k) from a toyota dealership and its been good to me ever since. I've only had to bring it in to my mechanic for some body work and exhaust work nothing with the engine.

"hehe", plugs and wires. There are other components usually replaced during a tuneup but these two are the most relevant to the situation at hand.

I've had spare spark plugs sitting in my car for a while now, but just been waiting on getting some wires as well. but that's on the to do list.

It seems to be starting pretty well now so hopefully it was just a hiccup. My bro is suggesting using some heet so probably gonna get some of the stuff. thank you for the input tho, much appreciated.
