3rd Generation Seafoam

I recently Seafoamed my Camry 3vz-fe and I put like 10 ounces through that vacuum line. It smoked like hell but I really didnt notice a big increase in performance if not any. I dont know if it has to do with me changing the oil religiously every 2 months or what but I feel as if it was a waste of money. Car only has almost 140k miles for a 1993. Any ideas?

btw I also get total shit mileage, 13-16 mpg.
Replaced fuel filter and for one tank got 20 mpg.
Also currently have a CEL code 55 on too for knock sensor #1.

Try running the seafoam though your fuel system instead. Add one can to a full tank of gas and see if your mileage improves.

seafoam is just to clean engine internals, you'll notice increase in throttle response more than performance

^ what he said ... its also not magic juice, it wont cure your car of any problems it might have

is that MPG city driving or highway? you have to remember that the 3VZ doesnt get quite as good fuel economy as the 5S-FE (4cyl) but it should still be getting 18mpg+
16 really isnt that bad, it would be normal for the 3VZ with all-city driving and a heavy foot ...

now that knock sensor code, depending on what it actually is (there are multiple codes for knock sensors) could be hindering performance - ill let King (Eye8Pussies) handle that one since he knows infinitely more about the knock sensors on these engines than i

13 to 16 MPG???

I have a 93 w/144K and before I garaged it (long story), I was getting 23 city, 27 freeway and was complaining about that.

As for Sea Foams Deep Creep, I just used it on my daughters Corolla to clean out the air intake and it did a nice job and seems to improve acceleration.

as a suggestion before you change your oil again put some of the seafoam in the oil and through the brake line. that might help some

My 3 month oil change is coming up this weekend but Im afraid of running the Seafoam through the oil and revealing damaged seals or something. The car like 15-16 years old with 140k miles on it.
