I have a 1995 camry, 5S FE. The remote starter was working in summer but now when i need it in winter, its not working. When i press the remote starter, the starter turns, but the car does not start. Please help me.

What brand is your remote, assuming it's aftermarket? I have an older Bulldog remote starter that I originally installed in my old '88 Mazda, then re-installed it in my '96 Camry. Sometimes it needs to be 'rebooted', by unplugging the main harness into the control module, but that is when it won't turn the starter over at all, or even get a signal from the remote (I know it receives a signal when the power antenna goes up). Your remote manufacturer might have a website for troubleshooting.

here is the problem. first you need to make shure there is a tach wire from the remote start to the coil or fuel injector. once you verify that then you need to program the tach. once the tach signal is learned then it should work perfect. if it does not then check to make shure there is not a loose connection from the remote start starter wire to the actual starter wire itself. if you need an install manual for the remote start then look on the brain module and goole it. if you live in chicago then i can fix it for you reasonably. steve.lobello@yahoo.com

My Bulldog unit has the tach wire as an option, as it will work without it, so it could be that his may or may not have one. I found this site with information on DEI Your Valet remotes http://www.drdetailshop.com/STARTINSTALL.html

Check all the connections, then make sure it is programmed correctly.

Mine is a cheap ass one made by DesignTech ($40 on clearance @ PepBoys) but it works great and over 3.5 years has given me no problems. Mine is such that the car cannot be driven without the key. It will shut off if the brake is pressed, tranny shifted out of park, the hood opened, or been more than 10 minutes without the key in it. I personally installed mine. They're not hard at all to install, but if you have an alarm sytem you will need to bypass it.

if you want a good remote start! my advice is to buy a good one the first time and you wont have problems. most of the cheap ones overcrank the starter and eventually the starter goes bad or grinds. buy a clifford rsx-3.5 or an dei or autopage!. if you want a good one i have a clifford for sale never installed and it has a pager and all the features you could want. steve.lobello@yahoo.com(my e-mail) p.s im not trying to solicit you just want you to know i can hook u up very reasonably, if needed

you said the starter works but it won't start.

If your starter just clicks, than you need to reprogram your remote start.

if your starter actually turns, you need to reprogram your cranktime. that can be done w/ your alarm manual, and without opening up to your brain. most alarm systems allow you to make your cranktime longer by using the ignition key and turning off and on and etc. it should be in your manual
