remove resonator, keep stock muffler - loud?

My mother has a 1996 Camry with a 5SFE. Her exhaust broke off at the rear of the resonator. Naturally, it had to happen right after Christmas when money is tight. The rest of the pipes look good. If I just put a pipe in place of the resonator, leaving the stock muffler in place, will it be a lot louder? There aren't any resonators on my 3SFE and you can barely hear my car!

Thanks in advance.

it will be somewhat louder, but since its still the stock muffler it shouldnt be too bad ... the exhaust note will change a bit as well

Thanks for the insight. That 2.25" cat back sounds real good! My mom's car will be patched up by the weekend.

Exhaust is holding up nice with just a pipe in place. I don't drive her car that often, but honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between now and before it broke. Thanks guys.
