Gen 3 cracked upper air duct repaired

It pays to inspect your engine bay at least once a month. There was this noise coming from the bay, could not pin point it. Turns out I had a cracked upper air duct. See picture before and after repair.

I have the same thing on my car right now. I'm hoping to get this turbo project started soon so I can replace that piping. No noise coming from my engine bay though

Had the same problem. Suggest you check the repair often, the shaking engine tends to cause the repair to break. Ended up replacing the duct after numerous attempts to repair it.

Good reason to save for a ram air kit.

How does that air duct work? Does it provide a vacuum or like air pressure to the engine? I thought it was like skipping the entire air intake so i took it off and tried to start the engine which didnt work? Was that a bad idea?

If you remove that, you effectively are removing the air coming from the MAF which is what the other end of that pipe connects to,

I installed a short ram intake and did not like it, I did not tighten the clamps, in time it loosend and the crack happened. I probably have too much vibration, I suspect my rear mount it kaput. I replaced the dogbone and front mounts last year.

Where did you buy the air duct and how much did it cost?

Thanks.
