3rd Generation V-6 3vz-fe surging under acceleration

My '93 Camry 3vz-fe has suddenly developed a surging problem under hard acceleration. It is less pronounced while the fuel tank is full, and becomes more pronounced as the fuel level drops in the tank. This happened immediately after changing out the original fuel tank with a new aftermarket tank. I used the same fuel pump again. There are no leaking fuel lines. No engine trouble codes. I am suspecting the fuel pump, or maybe a tank baffle problem? but it will be quite a coincedence that it went bad at the exact same time I changed out the tank! ANY sugestions or ideas?.....anyone??

Just an idea and dont quote me on this, but when was the last time the fuel filter was changed? Maybe even the fuel pump. How many miles on the odometer?

The filter was changed about 20,000 miles ago. The fuel pump has never been changed. There is 250,000 miles on the odometer.

If it happened directly after the swap, maybe a slightly pinched fuel like not letting proper flow through?

Just a thought.

It was the fuel pump. I ordered a new high flow fuel pump on ebay from TRE Performance (TRE-342 255 lph). It is a perfect fit, except I had to solder the supplied pig tail connector to the sender unit harness. Problem solved!
