3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I was planning on selling the Gen 4 Camry but have decided just to keep it till something major needs fixing. Currently has 170K miles. I had some time this morning so I installed the SE's I got from a member here on Toyota Nation.
Tires are Toyo Proxes 215-55-17 I know with this set up my speedo is going to be off. I am thinking about 215-50-17's but the 55's have 1K miles so they have plenty of tread left. The SE's are mounted on a 97 Camry 2.2L 4 banger.
There is salt all over my car so excuse the dirty pictures. The TRD kit is also not installed I took it off for the winter. I'll post new pictures with TRD kit in a few months. Crossing fingers that nothing happens.. Also there are no spacers I haven't seen rubbing at all.
nice job...looks good but rubbers look kinda big for that gen
I agree with you. The tires do look big, I have a few more months until I reinstall the SE's and get the car realigned. If I can find a good deal on a set of 215-50-17 I'll swap if not I'll just keep them.
In all honesty, if I my 2000 weren't wrecked, I would have kept it basically until it fell apart or some major problem arises. Having owned a 2000 and 2007, I much prefer the 2000 over the 2007, engine aside.
Somehow, my 2000 just seemed more solid compared to my 2007. There were less rattles and it was easier to work on. The 2AZ is nice since it has a bit more power combined with my 5M transmission and it doesn't have timing belt, but that's probably the only thing I like better on my 2007 compared to the 2000.

I thought 2007s were pretty nice cars to drive..
I have a 2000 LE and it is a good car, but I wish it had a manual transmission.
The SE wheels do look good, but they do look huge with the tires like the others say.

Wheels look great, car looks a little like it's wearing its big brother's shoes. Those tires likely have some resale or trade-in value with those low miles, maybe go lower profile? Wheels look GREAT though, more complimentary to the lines on the car.
