Do a search and get out your swearing jar. Common problem asked many times. If you can't get it out call me, I'll buy the car from you if that's all that's wrong.

Have you removed the axle carrier bearing retaining bolt and circlip?

If so the bearing is most likely frozen in the housing. You best bet may be to unbolt the housing and remove it along with the bearing/axle. Then work on it at the bench or have a shop remove the bearing. It is most likely rusted in place.

Folks in the past have used a torch to heat the housing, penetrating fluid, LARGE hammer to bang the axle out.

As Stillrunning states this is a common issue, a TN search should turn up more suggestions.

I cant remember the order, but I had to pry the CV shaft out of the transaxle with a crowbar, as well as tap the hub end out of the bearing. I used a large brass drift and a 4lb sledge hammer. As Toyomoho said, make sure the retaining ring is out of the bearing carrier.

It was a pain.

Great!

When you reinstall the axle bearing put some anti-seize compound in the housing.
