3rd Generation My Saturday...

Replaced Oil Filter Adapter/Bracket O-Ring

Replaced all 6 spark plugs

Cleaned Throttle Body

Replaced PCV Valve (broke while removing) I think it was the original to the car.

Replaced O2 sensors (front and back). The back was a PITA! I dont think Ive ever been so frustrated working on a car in my LIFE!

I also cleaned the IAC Valve and the EGR Valve. HOPEFULLY, I will start to get better gas mileage now. I took my car (expired inspection due to CEL from O2 sensor) to take the trash to the dump just a few minutes ago and got pulled over for the expired inspection sticker. LUCKILY, it was a nice cop and I explained the situation and he let me go, though it could have been the stinking trash in my car that convinced him to let me go. I was only a couple hundred yards away from the dump when he pulled me over.

Nice! I'm thinking I'm gonna replace the oil filter adaptor gasket in mine too. I was looking in that area trying to figure out where my remaining small oil leak is coming from, and I think that's it. Is the part number on that bag 90301-68005?... or is it the other one I can't quite see? Did you replace the smaller o-ring in the middle too? Looks like it's not too hard to work on either. Is it?

Yes, that is the part number. I didnt replace the one in the middle because I didnt know about it. It may not be replaceable, because the 90301-68005 is the only one that Toyota recognizes as a o-ring for the adapter. That smaller one isnt important for keeping oil from leaking, it's important in that it keeps the right oil going to the filter.

I DID have to loosen the bolts to the exhaust manifold and pull it away from the head in order to get the adpater off. That was a pain.

my guess is that his registration was due and since his camry has the CEL on, he can't pass smog which is required to renew the registration.

Legally you cant pass an inspection with a CEL on. We dont have SMOG here. CEL is off now, and will be getting inspected tomorrow. Engine runs MUCH smoother now. With all the cleaning to the throttle body and new plugs, it has really helped.
