Did you time it properly? Have you check to make sure that the cam and crank sensors are not damaged?

BTW, it is not an interference engine.

yes i think i timed it properly, the crank was at tdc on the mark on the cover, and the cam was with the little point to the mark on the back plate( not the big timing trigger!) the belt had not completely shreded just lost about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch of its width, the wife was driving at the time so i cant say exactly what happened, any way i checked the timing again to make sure it was correct and it apperared to be, as for the sensor they were not struck by anything, and looked ok, what is the resistance to check for on them??

Just in case, here is something for checking the timing belt alignment: http://www.camrystuff.com/manuals/Ge...hanical_I4.pdf, page 27. And for checking the cam and crank sensors: http://www.camrystuff.com/manuals/Gen4/Ignition.pdf
