The dist has an O-ring around the body that slides into the cylinder head, have you replaced this?

If this is the problem remove the sealant to keep it from getting into the engines oil system.

Are you sure the oil is from the body O-ring and not the dist shaft. The dist shaft can leak between the shaft and housing.

With the dist out did you clean the bore in the cylinder of any debris? The O-ring would be metric but nothing special. A well stocked auto parts or hardware store may have one that is larger in cross section.

If you can mark the exact location of the dist adjustment when installed, clean every thing up to remove the oil then apply high temp silicone seal or form in place gasket material to the dist housing when reinstalling it. Install the dist in the exact location so you do not need to move it for timing. Let the seal cure over night before starting.

Thats alot of silicone. I would try to clean up the excess to ensure it doesnt break free and migrate thru your oil system. The distributor shaft o ring that needs to be replaced only costs a couple bucks and doesnt require any more work that what you have performed.
