4th Generation V-LED's...problems???

Has anyone had problems with LED's going out way before they should. I bought a pair of license plate LED's from them in July maybe August( cant remember) http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481 here are the bulbs i got. They worked great and looked great too. After about a month one of them started blinking and after about a week or so it went out and occasionally it would blink every here and there. So I just said whatever. And just recently the other bulb went out as well so that got me a little angry because LED should last longer than halogens right??? So I was just wondering if anyone has had problems with these bulbs. Im going to send them an email seeing if i can get anything outta them.

I plan to get some of these ( im not sure if you can tell but theres led's wrapping around and one pointing down for a wide angle) from superbrightleds.com cause ive heard good things from them

I dont want to be a bringer of bad news, but if the leds are voltage regulated very well, that reduces the lifetime of the LEDS dramatically. Most LEDS should last ovre 100,000 hours if proper voltage and temp conditions are met. I am guessing the ones you have are not voltage regulated.

A cars voltage can go from 12.8 volts to 15 volts(with alternator running).. Thats a huge swing in terms of voltage. For example, If I had leds that needed 10 volts, and I was regulating 2~3 volts, its alot, but depending on how I am getting rid of the extra volts, it might not be too bad. But if my car was hitting 15 volts, 5 volt drop is alot for any regulator. If you can get rid of the heat, the regulator would be able to pull it off though. it seems from the picture you posted, if there is a regulator, its right next to the leds and leds and heat do not mix well.

Also if they were not regulated, the over voltage pushed the leds too much, and thats why they "died" prematurely.

I have some of the ones you suggested you wanted to pick up, and so far, I have not had any problems with them. Good luck.

They replaced a defective bulb for me with no questions asked. Didn't have to send anything back.
