Key Fob Programming Mode

I have tried everything I've found online but cannot get my 2001 Toyota Solara to enter programming mode to add a keyless entry remote. I confirmed by VIN with the dealer that it has the capability, but nothing works. Any suggestions?

Any help might keep my sanity...

The dealer confirmed that it had keyless entry in it, or it could be installed as an option?

I bought my car new, and the keyless entry was listed only on the sticker that was on the window.

I lost one of my remotes a few years ago, and then asked the dealer when I went in for an oil change how much a new remote was, and I was told $80.

I was like, uh, no thanks and used my other remote since. Then I found one on ebay. Only difference was that this one has the trunk release. My car only beeps when I hold that button, so I wonder if I could actually add that to my car, but enough of that.

I looked up on www.programyourremote.com and that is the exact same procedure that I used for my 2000 camry.

What helped me was to press the lock and unlock a total of 10 times. It says 5 times of lock and unlock, but it is 10 button presses.

I did start with all the rest of the doors locked, the drivers side door open and unlocked and it worked right away.

I was afraid that the instructions were simply to make you look like a fool for doing that.

My guess is either you are missing something, you don't have keyless entry, or you have a different security system that uses a different programming sequence.

I appreciate the info. Something is definately missing. From all my research online, There can only be two different keyless systems. I can't find the control box on his car, but I have tried both ways of programming which I too counted 10 pushes of the button. The dealer told me that the car had it installed and they looked it up by vin #. I kinda thinking that the Dealer might be full of it....

Don't feel too bad. As I was saying earlier I would love to add the remote trunk release to my car, and near as I can tell it is for the two security systems. I found a previous post stating that you can see if your car has this security system by taking off the panels under the steering wheel.

Well I've been in and out of there as I recently bought the fog light kit and I can't locate any module/board that says RS3000 or RS3200.

So perhaps the best thing would be to see what the part number is for the keyless entry, and see if there are instructions for it.

If I come across anything for my Camry, I'll let you know, as I think that information will help.

That is correct, you press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote at the same time, hold it for 2 seconds, let go, then press hold the lock button for 2 seconds.

Did you ever check Toyodiy.com put in your VIN and then go through there? I found where the remote entry should be at in my car. I haven't taken it apart yet to look.

If your remote worked, and you know you have a new battery, it might be that your contacts need to be cleaned.

That is the part that connects the battery. I would clean it by using a pencil eraser. Also you may need to bend the contacts so the battery fits in there tighter.

It's too bad I don't know enough Franηais to write these details here.

If all else fails, Ebay seems to have a lot of these remotes for sale. At least you know your car has keyless entry as the sequence works.
