3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Hey guys. Out of curiosity, did Toyota make a 2.4 liter 4 cyl in the Gen 3 era? Just wondering, because I think mine is a 2.4 liter. If they did, what type of engine is it? Still 5s-fe? Sorry if I seem like I don't know what i'm talking about.
Because I don't.

That's what I thought... but.
When I drove my aunts gen 4.5 2.2 Liter 4 Cyl from North Carolina to Florida, it seemed like my car kills it in both power and torque. I couldn't stand driving her car because it seemed so pathetic, whereas mine is decent for a 4 cyl. o.o
Did 4.5 have anything less than 2.2?

Prolly. It made me cry to drive it. T_T
Had to take it out of OD to do 55 on a 3% grade.
I think I would rock my Aunts socks off in a race... mainly because she doesn't know how to drive... thustly ME driving her car the 1500 miles, but I digress.
I don't know much about it, I know it was my grandpas car, and my aunt bought it from him (for $1. Funny, I bought my Aunts old camry which she replaced with the $1 camry, for $1900... o.o) and it was in good condition.
Uhm, another thing, my aunt didn't know that her old camry (now mine) was NOT a v6 ._.
And I got the impression that she had v6 parts put in it when she took it to Ice Cold Auto Air for alllll of the work she had done to it
Because when I told her it was a 4 cyl (Random conversation about the car popped up, this became part of said conversation), she was like
Oh... Uhm, I thought it was a v6... uhm...
Yeah, she said uhm.
And it was quiet for a bit, and I went and ate dinner.
o.o

It's a legitimate interest, but I don't count this as trolling. And the place my aunt took the car to totally ripped her off.
The oil pan and valve cover seals were both replaced 3 times, the CV joints were replaced 2 times, the radiator 2 times, they did new brakes a few months before I bought the car.
The receipt shows 'Full brake replacement', but when I had my brakes checked when I went in for the shake in the front end, there was NOTHING left for rear brakes, but my front brakes were like new. Me and my dad intend on replacing my rear brakes, but we are taking it to our mechanic to get the oil leak taken care of.
Another thing, what is causing my car to make a grinding noise when it trys to start? It used to do it maybe once a week in REALLY cold weather in the morning, but here in florida, it was around 75 this afternoon, and my car made the grinding noise in the parking lot at school.. fortunately no one noticed...

In this senario, pics don't help. Sadly, my camera records videos - with no sounds. My cell records, but I can't transfer the video from the cell to my computer, because instant messaging, picture messaging, ect, has been removed from my service, as my last girlfriend stole my phone and ran up a $64 text bill in 2 days.
