Automatic=trans fluid. Manual=gear oil. Your trans will take Dexron/Mercon III trans fluid. Do not use gear oil!

If your dropping the pan, about 2.5 quarts comes out. Get 3 just to be safe though.

Your trans requires the use of auto trans fluid that complies to Dexron II or III specs. Today, most of the trans fluid that is available conforms to both Dexron and Mercon specs, as 96paseo pointed out. I thought I would mention this just in case you do find trans fluid that still conforms to one spec or the other, but not both.

Removing pan or draining will take a little less than 2.5 qts to bring level back up to specs. Add 2 qts, run and add the additional fluid.

The differential is seperate and takes about 1.6 qts to drain and refill.
