Hello everyone. I have a quick question, i own a 98 camry and i installed an alpine ida-x100 and the thing is blue lighting. i was wondering is there anyway to change the green to blue without going too crazy? sorry if this is already a thread i couldnt find anything on it. Any help would be appercatied thanks
There's methods around that would permit you to change it (similar to the clock trick) but I don't know if I would want to be playing around with a HU and risking damaging it to get the cover off the LCD screen.
oh well its not a huge deal i was just curious. oh thinking of it one of the lights died out behind the rmp gauge to the right of it. how hard is it replacing one of these bad boys?
to remove the dash cluster in a gen3:
-pop the plastic U piece out from around the stereo
-unscrew the couple screws above the cluster itself
-gently pull out the front of the dash (black piece... usually I grab from the cluster area)
-now you'll have access to unclip and remove the dash cluster (I can't remember if there's screws or not, I believe there's about 4)
once it's out, you just twist the little sockets out and then remove the bulbs. the majority of the dash uses #74 bulbs (IIRC) and I think it also uses 1x #168/194.
There are 5 #194 bulbs behind the gauge cluster, there are two #74 bulbs behind the auto-climate control, and one #74 bulb behind the key-ring ignition. Go to superbrightleds.com or autolumination.com and get 5 #194 and 3 #74 Blue LED bulbs. Do some better searching on interior lighting DIY and switch out your bulbs. It improves the interior of your car by about 10 times, you will be very happy and it's cheap as well. Let us know how it goes!
