95 V6 - Engine "ticking"
Hello all-
My '95 V6 (220k km's) has been making this sound for a while (at least the last 60k) , but I figured I'd ask in case it's common and/or easy to fix.
There is a ticking sound coming from the engine at all times. It increases with the engine speed. It's not a thumping or knocking, but is audible from about 8-10 feet from the car while it's running. According to a friend it "sounds like a mean sewing machine".
I've been told it could be anything from a bad valve to worn bearings on the alternator, power steer, or water pump.
The only issue I've ever seen on the car is the po402 (excessive EGR flow) code getting thrown a couple times every year - which usually gets fixed by throwing in a new air filter.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks-
