Are you just looking to have a muffler installed or are you replacing the piping as well? Are they installing hangers? details, details, details!

If it's just the muffler that you want installed, you should be expecting a price between $40-$80.

I just got my magnaflow muffler installed and it cost me a hundred bucks. Not sure why it would cost more if that's all you wanted.

...I'm not really certain what you're trying to accomplish. Are you trying to have a cat-back installed?
This is when they'll use new tubing from the catalyctic converter back to the tail-pipe and utilize your muffler. They'll also likely need to weld flanges as well as hangers.
Are you trying to have just the muffler installed? ie: they'll cut your exhaust tubing off, weld it to your muffler and weld a hanger to the muffler.

Do you already have the muffler that you want installed? Just tell them that you want a muffler installed, not a cat-back exhaust setup.

also depends on if the muffler is a direct bolt-on with proper hangers, or if it needs to be welded on to your piping and a new hanger has to be installed as well

93XLEcamry, in addition to American Muffler you can check out Ed Hansen in Spring Valley. His shop is a bit pricey but is very well known for their work on hot rods, muscle cars and other high performance cars. If you are looking for custom piping, Ed Hansen's is the only muffler shop in the area that does mandrel bending.

I had my magnaflow muffler installed for $80 from a local shop. It was 2.5" inlet on the muffler and my pipe was only 2". Couple of days later I asked them to remove the resonator and put in a 2.5" pipe from the cat for another $80. Meineke was asking $210 for just the muffler....
Between $60-$80 is a good price. The lowest I ever heared of was $30.

3rd Generation

I paid $100 for my muff and 2.5" piping from the cat installed.

It was an alright deal in retrospect, I just know in the future when I go with a nicer looking muffler and the way I want it to look could cost me $$$
