Canada Distributor, Spark Plugs

Hey All,

I'm hoping I can get some help here...I have a 94 Camry V6 with about 310K on it. Runs ok no major issues, expect I got a leaking fuel filler which I will replace this week. But my question is this, I got new spark plugs and wires and I'm thinking should I also get the distributor and the cap replaced at the same time? Is it worth it?

I also wanted to know how hard it was to replace the spark plugs and wires? Does anyone have any guides or websites I can refer to?

Thanks again.

It's really easy. No need to replace the distributor. Just change the cap and rotor. Go get yourself a Haynes manual and follow that. MAKE SURE THAT YOU USE ANTISIEZE ON THE PLUG THREADS!!! Otherwise, you'll probably be repairing the plug threads next time you change plugs.

well...it depends...are you sure that you have a 94 v6? because if you do, you have the first generation of the 1mzfe motor, which has no sparkplug wires since every sparkplug has an individual coil pack on top of it, which means that it also doesn't have a dizzy or a rotor and cap

Thanks Guys.

Ok I'm really confused now....just for the record I got my spark plug wires from Canadian Tire for about $120 (could be more can't remember) and they look like this h t t p ://img.drivewire.com/PRO-F/W01331622857BOS. JPG

Does it mean I got the wrong ones? Sorry for sounding like a knoob but I though I just needed plugs, wires, distributor and dist cap. Am I wrong?

Thanks again.

Like Eye8Pussies say, if you have a '94 V6, you don't have any plug wires, and no distributor so no cap and rotor; you have six individual coils. So basically, you just need six spark plugs, unless the boots on your coils are having problems, like oil leaking from the spark plug tube seals. You do have a 310k engine, so you might want to do a quick check on the front three cylinders and find out what condition they are in. At least that will give you some idea.

N.E.O.
