If I were in your position, with a project camry that had a lot of cool mods, has been reliable to me for awhile, has brought a lot of memories to me, and taken me to so many awesome places.. etc
I would... sell it.
The fact that you've been a member for two years means you've been modding it for at least that amount of time, and invested a lot of money and heart into it!
BUT
When an oppurtunity comes along for a car that is in a completely different class, that could probably make your heart jump when you peel out on a 0-60, I would say it is time for an upgrade.
ay feijai
i seen a cam with whole jdm kit like yours. but it was painted white with 6k headlights and fogs passing by ward theaters one time. was that you?
if so then that is the cleanest cam ive ever seen. hids was so bright you could swore it was daylight.
and my friend is selling his rx7 too with a similar description...i wonder if its the same one.
So, it's got 1000 or 1500 miles(depending on what part of the 1st post you go by) on a rebuilt engine, and it's already got an oil leak...
Yeah, that sounds like a good deal to me...
^^seconded
be weary of rotary motors too, they're a bitch to find people capable of working on them. I'd try and find a local shop that's capable and have them look the car over.
the rx7 is obviously faster than your camry, though less personalized. I'd consider it, providing it can pass a mechanic check from someone who's capable of doing rotary work.
the oil leak on a 1k mile engine would definitely be a red flag to me though.
HAHA Replace those Apex Seals huh? Those things need engine service every 30K miles and 3k oil changes. (Burn oil like crazy) Then it's very easy to flood and needs to be warm-up for a while to drive. Finally is finding a place to fix it and hope you have enough money to afford it.
I was about to buy an rx7 that sold for $9k (80K miles) or an rx8 for $13k (34K miles)
If you do buy it... Swap an ls1 motor into it so there is less mechanical issues, but then it would not be an RX7 anymore.

No, they dont. If you know how to take care of the engine, they will run forever. And yeah...there is no "just replacing those apex seals". More involved than pistons and rings.

....and 3k oil changes.....
Dont most all cars get this anyways nowadays?!
Quote:
...(Burn oil like crazy)...
uuhh...they are DESIGNED to burn oil.

....Then it's very easy to flood and needs to be warm-up for a while to drive...
only floods if you have leaky injectors. Also need to watch out for the PD (pulsation dampner)

Don't need a place to fix it. You can learn yourself. It's not that difficult. www.RX7CLUB.COM is AWESOME for this!

its really what you'd want to do, i mean so much money spent on the camry but yet you have a different car you can work on. Like i tell everyone, it what you want. If you feel its tiem to move on to another car do so, unless you can find a way to keep both but i doubt it, but if you do decide to sell, find a camry enthusiast well get the most money fro the car in its shape becasue if you sell it to a random person they wouldnt give as much as an enthusiast if you get wat im saying

fd is a much better platform to start on of course....BUT...that is presuming you have the money for maintenance as things start to go wrong. Even just in parts, the costs will start piling up pretty fast...
as for dumping the rotary.,....I agree...just drop in an sr20det and get it over with. or the ls1 if you have the balls
