Removing trunk lock?

The trunk lock on my camry is broken (frozen still, won't turn at all), and I want to remove it to possibly take it to a locksmith to fix.

Problem is, when I took a look at the lock from the back (removed the lid insulation), I can't find any bolts or anything holding it on, except a springy tab-like thing?

How would I remove it?

Grab the retaining clip ( " springy tab-like thing " ) with a pair of vise grips and pull it off. It slides off parallel to the sheet metal. Then locate the plastic clip that holds the latch actuator rod. Push the leg of the clip off the rod, rotate the clip and pull the rod out of the lock. Remove lock from trunk.

okay, I popped off the retaining clip, and the rod, but the lock is still on the trunk.

Does it come out through the outside? or does it fall into the trunk?

It comes out through the outside. If you haven't done so already, you need to remove the outside trunk panel. To do that, look inside the trunk lid and locate the studs that hold the panel on. They're held on with 10mm nuts. Idk how many ( too long since I had mine off ) but iirc at least 6. 2 are in the lower corners of the trunk lid, behind rubber plugs. The others are more in the middle of the lid, 1 row on top, another row along the bottom. Then remove the reverse and ( 92-94 ) taillight bulbs. Once you are SURE that you've removed ALL the nuts, GENTLY pry the panel off ( it also has push-in clips like a door panel ) with a flat head screwdriver.

Sorry for the confusion, my bad for not going into detail before.

Also, when you replace it, make sure that you have a new seal under the outside of the lock or use some silicone. Then you won't get water in your trunk and windows that constantly fog up when it rains.
