4th Generation gen 3 brake pads on a gen 4?

my friend used to have a gen 3 and he bought oem brakepads for it and never put them on. will they fit on a 4? i searched and couldnt find anything.

If it were me, I would go to like Autozone.com and see what the part number is for the brakepads on a gen 3, and then look for the part for a Gen 4. If they match, I'd so go for it.

^ Do what skuttduck suggested, but go to a Toyota parts site. Toyota may use different pads while aftermarket could use the same pad on both generations. As a side note, the I4 and the V6 models will use different pads.

Only on some V6 rears, before July 2000 they should be the same. Then after, the caliper uses a smaller one.

A related note: the holder shims (the spring clips that hold each end of the brake pad) are very slightly wider on the V6 brakes than the I4 brakes. They look exactly the same, so you don't find out until you actually try to put them in place. Doh!
