4th Generation General lowering precautions?

I'm considering lowering my car (98 xle v6) and someone told me that the cars tires would end up like this //--\\ instead of ||--|| if I didnt get 'casters'- i believe thats what he called them, which are supposed 2 keep your tires from caving in like that . Any input would be nice.

you'll only get them if ur too low- usually anything less than 2-2.25 drop wouldn't need it.

any drop will change your camber but it gets worse as you drop further. in either case, after you lower a car you want to take it for an alignment to get every thing back to normal anyways where they can adjust your camber. if its extreme then you may need a camber kit to correct it. but asside from coilovers, youll never see more then a 2" drop anyways.

You're camber will usually be within factory specifications, even when lowered. Toe and caster will probably have to be adjusted depending on how aggressive a drop you choose.

That said, you can still go ahead and buy the adjustable camber kits anyways since they're not that expensive.

4th Generation for informational purposes...

Yea the drop I was considering was a 1.8" drop, and being that an allignment is due anyways, this would work out well. I've been reading other threads and see that along with lowering springs, performance shocks would be needed. Kyb or Tokico? can anyone tell me the advantages/dissadvantages of either brand, thanks.

KYB: near OEM, slightly stiffer.
tokico: stiff, harsher ride but more responsive and better for soft springs as most of the 1.8" drop ones are.
