4th Generation Broken side mirror question

I have a 99 camry with the power side mirrors and basically I knocked the side mirror off the car. A few plastic brackets broke off from the mirror and remain on the car. I noticed that the mirror was only held in by a few screws and some glue. Does anybody know what kind of glue they use? I just want to glue it back on instead of buying a new mirror or paying some body shop a $100.

I just replaced mine tonight, and they don't use glue. That sticky stuff is the remnants of a foam layer, like weather-stripping. I had two broken, and got both shipped from ebay for about 58 bucks, they are shiny black, and it was cheaper to buy two to match than a new one and paint it. All you need is a 10mm socket to replace them, if your wires remain.

The passenger-side mirror on our '97 was knocked off as well. There are three bolts that extend out from the mirror and secure it to the side of the car with nuts hidden behind the little triangular plastic piece in front of the side window. When ours was knocked loose the bolt heads came loose from the plastic bracket inside the mirror assembly. I used some epoxy to secure the bolt heads in the bracket which then allowed me to reattach the mirror to the car in the normal way.

Be careful about using glue or where you glue it, it could make the circular plate that support the mirror glue too tight onto the housing, therefore it's stuck in one position.

Mines got broken more than you wanted to see, but the mirror and power cable still intact... except the mirror and its supporting circular piece were dangling. There were actually several white clips holding onto the circular plate/reinforcement of the mirror. In my case, I only see partial of one clip left.

So, I used hot glue to just glue onto the place where the other support clip should be. Works well.
