3rd Generation Aftermarket 3VZ-FE Y-Pipe...any interest?

Hi, I am fairly new to the Camry forum but in no way new to cars. I have a 1992 SE 5-Speed, that i have been fixing up.

I was looking at getting a set of OBX headers, but with a price tag of $350+ and from my research people saying headers are a waste of money, all that is needed is a larger Y-pipe, I'm looking at making a new larger Y-pipe for my car. Another thing that persuaded me from buying any headers are the fact that i am in California, and i am 100% positive that even the strict testers will not notice a larger Y-pipe cause the manifolds will be all OEM.

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in purchasing a Y-pipe, so i can plan on making more than 1. I can't give a permanent price right now but i would say it would be around $200 or less.

I do plan on dyno'ing my car with the OEM one and the new one i develop, just for my own knowledge.

So I am interested in hearing from everyone, pointers, thoughts, anything?

Yeah I have seen the others people have made. But no one offers them anymore, and their prices are quite high, I know i can make one for alot less too.

yeah...it's not hard to make one if you can weld. and for 200 bucks? I presume that you're doing all the work yourself then?

also, are you making a good one that has equal length runners? it's easy to make one with a dump pipe for the rear bank.

go on solaraguy and do a search for dat's y-pipe. better than stock, but I still don't like the design and wouldn't run it myself.

the unfortunate thing of course, is that the 3vz is not an old engine, so it'll be hard to find interest.

if you really think that you can make one for less than 200bucks, you can think about selling it on ebay since that would be even cheaper than the price for the oem replacement y-pipes

I'll be doing most the fabing myself, and am trying to determin if it'll be cheaper to cut all pieces and have a shop just weld them up, or buy a welder and weld myself. I'm not the best welder, but can do if i need to.

Well that is one thing i noticed about the Y-pipes offered is they don't make a even length y-pipe, which is a must for a nice sounding and good power making Y-pipe.

I'm looking at designing it with a twist like this one in the pic

Looks good man, hopefully this all pans out for you. If I still had my Camry, I'd have totally dunked 200 for a better y-pipe.
