tranny q's

Hi all,
My name is Mike, and i'll start with the details. I drive a 96 camry 2.2l 5sfe with a automatic trans. a140, i believe and no abs.
I recently pulled then engine and tranny to replace the rear main seal. Ok, done. But how ever, when i had the tranny off the engine, my neighbor suggested changing the front pump seal on the tranny. I took the front pump off, dont do this unless you have too, and noticed it was a beast to get back on. So i didnt change the seal, i installed it back, the way i took it off. So i put the engine and trany back in, it started. i added fluid to the tranny, about 3 qts, then i started it and went throught the gears, nothing, fluid stayed about half way up the dip stick and the wheels didnt turn. So i thougth about it. i put the car in neutral so i can push into the garage and it was in the neutral position on the shifter and the manual shift switch on the tranny. It wouldnt move. I am wondering if its because it lacks enough transmission fluid or did i do something wrong when i took the front puup off the trans.

also the first time i started the engine, it hesitated, like somthing was stopping it, but i did just pull it, it started after a few tries and it made a little noise, but nothing major.

any help will be greatly appreciated

gotta agree with him above me, whenever i take something off and put it back and find something isnt working its either because i forgot to connect something, something wasn't lined up right, connected something wrong or i broke something off. for your sake i hope is not the last one! the other thing that comes to mind is watch the rpms when you start it, that could help you isolate the probablem if it is with the tranny
