Gen3 struts on Gen4?

Has anyone put gen3 camry struts on a gen4 camry or gen1 solara, or vice versa (g4cam/g1sol struts on g3 cam)? I ask because it seems from reading around on here that the springs are pretty much interchangeable, and I even remember seeing a thread where someone recommended "gen3/4 k-sports" for someone's gen1 solara, so it seems like it might be possible.

here's why i ask - koni yellows are apparently available for gen3: http://www.modacar.com/products/Toyota/Camry/MODASHS/ but not available for gen4.

I'd like adjustable damping for the camry but i don't want a full on coilover setup (k-sport/d2) due to cost, plus progressive rate springs are your friend on the streets around here.

I'm not real worried about things like abs sensor wires or even brake hose attachment points - I can always attach those in other ways. i also know that the trd rsb fits on a gen3 with no mods, so that tells me the sway bar attachment points are close enough - at least in the rear.

If nobody knows for sure, then does anyone have a set of stock gen3 struts they would give to me so i can take measurements and/or do test fits on my gen4? Preferably you'd be in Houston, TX area so there's no shipping.

search terms/keywords for future searches, since i wasn't able to find this info by searching: retrofit retro cross over interchange swap x-over generation 3 fit put generation 4 strut shock absorber suspension susp spindle knuckle hub mount bolt pattern does it fit

they'll fit...just the front struts won't have a mounting point for the endlinks for the fsb on the gen4. and you'll need gen4 mounts as well

ohhh... didn't realize the front sway bar end links connected to the struts on a gen4. i assumed it was on the control arms like it was in gen3. I don't feel like welding anything, esp to a strut that contains compressed gas and flammable oil, not to mention voiding the warranty. i'm a bolt-on kinda guy. not afraid of CUTTING anything, but welding is not my forte.

although i do know some ppl who can weld... and welding sway bar tabs onto existing control arms and getting gen3 end links would probably be way easier than trying to weld them onto the struts. hmmm...

by "gen4 mounts" i assume you mean the uppers? not a problem, since they're already on the car. i actually have a spare set of fronts in my misc stuff box.
