USA No power to aftermarket stereo!!!

My girlfriend has a 99 camry Le and I bought her a cd player for her car. Its a Sony CDX-GT 330, I bought a harness for it connected all the wires and no power. I thought maybe it was the harness that I bought (cause I got it walmart) so I went to an actual car audio retailer and bought another harness and the same thing happened no power to the stereo.I plugged the factory radio back in and it works unplugged the factory radio and plugged the aftermarket back and again no power. I have no clue as to whats wrong its just weird that the factory radio gets power but the aftermarket isant, oh and I returned the sony and got another one of the same model thinking maybe the one I bought was a dud but I still had the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you check both fuses? There is one that is under the hood next to the battery, and there is another one that is behind the coin dish next to the steering wheel.

A couple of other ideas I have is also, did you make sure that the ground wire was hooked up, and if not did you try and slide it into the frame?

I had a friends Jaguar that had a ground wire that didn't work, but would work when it was screwed in. The ground was completed through the frame and the wire in the car was not attached good enough.

Also simple stuff, if you haven't tried. Make sure you try it when the car is on, in the ACC position, and when you have started the car.

If it is newer stereo perhaps you have installed an optional satellite receiver, try unhooking that, and if there is a reset button, try pressing and holding that.

If the radio has a fuse check to see if that is blown. Did one of your speaker wires get crossed on the harness?

You might be able to test the car stereo with a 12 volt DC adapter. Just hook up the Red and yellow wires to positive and the black wire to negative to see if that works.

Ya I pretty much did everything, except I didint know there was a fuse under the hood. But the radios fuse is good and so is the fuse behind the coin thing, I tried it with the car running and with just battery power, I don't think its fuses though cause the factory radio gets power. Oh and I did hit the reset button several times and it still had no affect

Post a picture of the wire harness. It sounds liek you may just have connected the 2 sides wrong (Radio harness and the car side of the harness you bought).

Where did you connect the ground? I have a Sony cd deck (MEXBT3700U) with the same symptom. When I plug it in the CD whirs so I think it has power, but the display is dead.

When I plug the stock stereo back in, it works, so I don't think it's a fuse. (I did check the fuse in the Sony and it's fine.)

Unhappy

Doh! I wired it wrong (wired to the mirror image of the connector). It works now, but I blew the front right speaker.

I have a similar problem in my 1996 camry le. I am trying to install an aftermarket radio which i got on eBay. I got all the diagrams amd connected everything with butt-splice crimps instead of a wire harness. I tried to turn on the radio but had no power. I also noticed the clock and the dome light power were out. However, the cigarette lighter is still working fine. I even undid the wires and wired it again and the same problem occurred. Any suggestions? I thought it might be the fuse, but the cigarette lighter is on the same fuse? Please help if you know anything on the subject.
