Ok, if a mod stumbles upon this thread... I would greatly appreciate changing the title to: Crank, No start condition.
To wit this is what I have done:
1. Replaced the alternator with a bench tested reman'd alternator
2. Replaced the battery
3. Checked all fuses, fusible links and relays
4. Checked the fuel pump upon turning key (to see if perhaps the pump had gone and was starving the engine)
5. Changed plugs and plug wires. (Did find that one of gaskets needs to be replaced, as there was oil on the plug in the first cyclinder, but has clear evidence of carbon deposits from firing)
6. Checked the PCM for signs of visible electrical damage (charring, discoloration). I know this no substitute for getting it scanned... but I felt I needed to at least look
I have narrowed it down to these possible problem areas...but am by no means experienced enough, and would love some second opinions/suggestions:
1. Crankshaft / Camshaft position sensors
2. Ignition Coils
3. Igniter
4. PCM (I really hope not)
My primary concern is that since the alternator was bad, it may have spiked back and damaged some of the more sensitive electrical components. I am stuck. Any ideas would be awesome. Thanks to everyone who has responded thus far... it has kept my resolve up.
But I may have to break down, have it towed in and diag'd.
